The MD Series NEMO is a mainstream carbon dioxide sensor comprised of a sensor body that clips directly onto a disposable airway adapter. Measurement is based on NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) technology: a stationary infrared light source sends a beam through the airway adapter, and an infrared detector fitted with two filters of different wavelengths calculates the CO2 concentration from the ratio between the two measurement channels — with no moving parts. The device features a 1.44" TFT color display (128×128 px) showing the EtCO2 value, respiratory rate, and capnogram; the display unit (mmHg, kPa, or vol.%), waveform scale, and scan speed are all menu-configurable. A three-level alarm system (low/medium/high priority) provides visual and audible alerts for apnea, low/high EtCO2 or respiratory rate, a clogged or missing airway adapter, and low battery. The MD Series NEMO runs on two AAA batteries, requires no routine calibration (an annual gas span check is recommended), and is intended for use by trained healthcare professionals as an adjunct to — not a replacement for — clinical assessment. Airway adapters (item no. CSM01A) are single-patient-use disposables.
